Construction can be completed more quickly, and the margin of error is significantly reduced due to the pre-arranged computer environment.

You know what happened in the 1999 Düzce and Gölcük earthquakes. I was 18 then. I applied to the Construction Department at the University. After the lives we lost, my friends and relatives, and the mistakes I saw in the buildings, I preferred to study steel structure at the university and improved myself later on. The most important reason is that it is the most resistant building system against earthquakes.

I came to Cyprus 18 years ago. Steel structures were not common in Cyprus at that time. I've always thought of opening a business for myself on this subject. That's why we've been focusing on steel structures since 2012. And as at the very beginning, we still tell people about the earthquake resistance as the advantage of the steel structure at first. Because the most important issue for us is the safety of the building we live in and then the safety of the property.

How do you evaluate the demands for steel structures?

After the recent earthquake, we started to receive more requests. There was demand before, but not this much. It has almost tripled. This is good news. Our people have at least started to be more conscious about this issue. I wish we had acquired this awareness before these sad events came upon us.

Of course we are not against reinforced concrete structures. But when making reinforced concrete structures, it must be a structure that is resistant to disasters and earthquakes. Time to time reinforced concrete structures are also needed. Same with steel structures. I think that everything will be better if my colleagues, politicians and people are more conscious about this issue.

What kills us is not nature, but ourselves.

Finally, I would like to say this. Things and choices we don't do right cause this. Buildings kill, not earthquakes. For this, I think that we should be more conscious and think about our future and our children and act accordingly, this is primarily related to the areas we live in.

Can you inform us about modular structure and Tiny Houses?

Of course, apart from steel structures, we make modular constructions, living containers and Tiny Houses. We have exports and domestic sales. The reasons for the emergence of tiny houses and modular structures are due to both earthquake and the minimization of life choices. Today, modular structures are recyclable and environmental-friendly structures because they are portable. You can move wherever you want whenever you want.

One of the most important reasons why people prefer these structures is that they are resistant to earthquakes. They are building products that support a more economical life style and less consumption with almost no impact due to earthquakes and provides minimized life.

You can carry them on wheels or without wheels. If you want, you can move your luxury small house on wheels in caravan format to wherever you want. Or you can place it permanently on your land. Today, it is a highly preferred building system in Europe and also in developed countries. We are currently exporting to Southern Cyprus very intensively.

In the past, due to inadequate materials were used in the construction of steel structures, prefabricated or modular structures, disturbed people in terms of their appearances. Today, you can apply everything you do in concrete structures to steel structures, modular structures and Tiny Houses.

Another advantage of steel structures is that you do not need a carcass skeleton system for exterior cladding. But in reinforced concrete structures, you have to make a skeleton system no matter what you do, other than stone or ceramic. You don't need it in steel construction. Thus, lower costs occur in steel structures.
