Award-winning designer Zeynep Fadıllıoğlu, who has created important designs both in-country and abroad, is a world-renowned interior architect who explains east and west through colors, textures, textiles, accessories, and architecture. In 1995, she carried out successful projects in Turkey and around the world with a team of 25 people, including architects, interior designers, painters, and designers, who had the same vision as herself in Istanbul. With this team she has established, she has developed a corporate culture working with designers and craftsmen.
She has done more than 500 projects, especially in Istanbul, Ankara, Antalya, Izmir, and Bodrum and in various parts of the world such as New York, London, Paris, St. Tropez, Berlin, Netherlands, Kuwait, Doha, New Delhi, Mumbai, Bahrain, Jeddah, Oman, Jordan, including mosques, residences, hotels, restaurants and clubs, workplaces, stores, product design, set design, and special events.

Zeynep Fadıllıoğlu studied Computer Science at the University of Sussex and then Computer Programming and System Analyst training at the Control Data Institute. Fadıllıoğlu, who has been interested in art and design since his childhood, studied Art History and Design at Inchbald School of Design in London, following his father’s words:
Fadıllıoğlu began her professional career in the field of design with the businesses of her husband, famous in Istanbul. She worked as a design consultant at Taksim Nightpark, the most prominent nightclub of its time. In 1995, she founded Zeynep Fadıllıoğlu Design. In this way, the design became her job.
Zeynep Fadıllıoğlu also became the first female mosque designer in the world by designing the interior of Şakirin Mosque, which was built in Istanbul in memory of İbrahim and Semiha Şakir.
“…I used to design jewelry when I was a child.”
I was born in Istanbul. I grew up in a mansion designed and built by Garabet Balyan in Yeniköy. One of my grandfathers is a cotton manufacturer Salih Bosna and the other is a silk manufacturer Rıfat Pekiş. My grandfathers have a big share in my interest in textiles. I spent my childhood in a family environment where art and design were given great importance. My grandfather Rıfat Pekiş was also an important antique collector. I used to design jewelry when I was a child. I started collecting contemporary art pieces when I was 15 – 16 years old. Design has always been in my life by the contribution of the family environment. But I can say that studying Art History and Design was a turning point. I received an education here where we practiced all periods and their details in museums.
I try to create a private place by blending my customer’s demands and tastes on my own style every time. I prefer to design high-functional spaces that create a sense of living and offer convenience, rather than buildings where the human presence is overshadowed, and where form takes precedence over the needs of the person who will inhabit the space. I think the reason for this success is that we have been working not only in Turkey but also in Europe, Far East, Middle East Countries and America for many years and our interest in different sociology, psychology and cultures and accumulation of all.
