The importance of having a home and strong family values increased during the pandemic, when we all had to stay indoors. This process brought awareness to the size of houses and living spaces. Priorities were combined with needs, resulting in many changes. For example, many homeowners realised that having a garden, balcony or terrace, as well as their own personal space, was a privilege.
During this process, we foresaw that interest and demand in detached houses would increase. In the future, people buying property will look for large houses big enough to create family rooms and personal space, located in a natural habitat with gardens big enough to grow their own fruit and vegetables. In North Cyprus, we actually have an advantage of already being provided with such places that are a part of our lives. Apartments and residential complexes providing social facilities and offering lifestyles in different concepts can be found on the island.
During the pandemic, the quarantine precautions taken as an island have been very successful and being able to contain the virus at minimum levels has provided us with the status of becoming one of the safest countries in the world. Today, health and staying safe has become a top priority, therefore demand in property on the island will increase in the future.
We, as the Coldwell Banker Maximum family, are already a part of a large and global company, aware of these structural needs and have been providing our services to clients for a long time. By using our connections in Turkey, Europe and America, we have strengthened our International network potential. Online seminars and meetings were already a part of our lives, now we organize them more often.
I can proudly say that we kept working while North Cyprus was in lock-down with online meetings, online visits to the office and shared work experience. 1200 people attended the online seminar based on Coldwell Banker Global Luxury course, in which I participated as a Global Luxury Ambassador. We provided customers with the opportunity to see and buy properties by using video presentations and 360 degree virtual tours of the property.
When bank interest rates fell because of the pandemic, property sales in Turkey hit a never previously seen, sky high record. In North Cyprus we couldn’t take advantage of such a decrease in interest rates, but the demand in property still increased, although exchange rates had steeply gone up. This was because contractors made accommodations and flexible payment plans and exchange possibilities were offered to consumers.
A property always keeps its value and owning a property will become more difficult as time passes, therefore I would like to tell investors to take advantage of the possibilities created by the pandemic and not to postpone buying the property they need.
