"WE WILL CONCENTRATE ON YENİBOĞAZİÇİ AND LONG BEACH"
Dörter Construction which, especially in more recent years, has attracted much attention with its important housing projects in the Famagusta and Iskele region, can be seen as a company which is developing almost simultaneously with the cities in which it operates. We met with Dörter Construction’s Sales and Marketing Manager, Donya Eker, to learn about the company's future plans and the motivation for this particular development.
- Hello, Donya, can we get to know you a little bit, what have you done and how long have you been working for Dörter Construction?
First of all, thank you very much for giving our company this opportunity. Personally, I was born in 1988, I am from Iran and I came to Northern Cyprus 10 years ago for my university education and I stayed on and am working here now. After getting a management license in sports and physical education back in Iran, I came to the island and graduated from the Faculty of Tourism. I started working in a hotel, worked in different departments to learn more about the profession whilst still studying. I took a break due to the intensity of the lessons in the last term of the school and after graduation I was lucky enough to secure a job in the real estate sector, thanks to a close friend of mine to whom I will always be very grateful. Everything moved quite rapidly and I found I was good at the job and enjoyed it. After some 5 years of experience in the sector, I accepted the job offer from Dörter Construction and started my career here; now having happily been with the company for more than a year and a half.
- Could you tell us about the story of Dörter Construction, how did the company get started, who were your buyers and what were your plans and goals?
Dörter Construction has been actively working since 2010, before that it was in hardware and maintenance and repair services. The original goal was to create better living spaces for people and offer different suggestions for everyone and for people’s ideas. Although the target audience changes from time to time, the core market are mainly British, Iranian, Russian and local Cypriots. Our company vision is to build more boutique and personalised residences, we don't really want crowded sites and opted for more intimate houses from the very beginning. We are trying to give a more useful and a quality living space to homeowners.
Currently, in a boutique project like 4ever Green, we have reached all of the primary determined objectives with housing options that can appeal to everyone. As a company, our priority is customer satisfaction and I think we provide this with high quality construction offered at affordable prices, which come with lower profit margins.
- After the apartments in Famagusta city centre came the modern site projects in Tuzla and more recently in the Yeniboğaziçi region. Then, more stylish holiday houses in İskele Long Beach. What awaits us into the future?
We work in different regions in order to provide the most appropriate response to the city's overall housing needs. Our current plan is to leave Famagusta somewhat and concentrate more on the Long Beach area of Iskele and Yeniboğaziçi regions, while still preserving our overall company vision. Our plans for both Long Beach and Yeniboğaziçi will be announced in the near future and we are very excited about these special projects.
- Apart from all these build-and-sell projects, Dörter Construction's signature can also be seen in private housing projects and commercial buildings. Would you like to talk about these works?
Of course, after all, not everyone wants to live on estates or in apartments, those who dream of a detached life also come to us with their dreams. Begüm, one of our directors, and her talented team - our extremely gifted architects - express the dreams of our customers onto paper, and then our very capable engineers in the construction department transform these drawings into reality. “If I'm going to design a special project, I first need to know the people who will live in the property. One should be able to tell the architect about the things that effect your life at home without hesitation. They should be able to tell everything they like, dislike, and any difficulties they may experience. Occasionally, they should be able to perhaps tell the architect what they cannot even tell their partners, because the architect will be able to offer them the vision of a space to live." - Finally, let's share with our readers the news that we understand that you have outgrown your Dörter Construction offices, that you have now opened your Dörter Construction Sales Office, which has been active since the beginning of this year, and can we wish you good luck with this.
Yes, it is very true. We have opened our sales office to provide better quality service to our customers and visitors and we are currently conducting our sales transactions and information services from there. Furthermore, Dörter does not only consist of Dörter Construction, it includes 4steel, which set out with us in our works and provides all services to do with iron and steel structures. We also have 4isolation, which provides an important service and is well regarded in the provision of first class insulation works. Then there is the newest member of the family, Cortado Café, which has two branches, one on Salamis Road, Famagusta’s busiest street, with the second branch being in İskele Long Beach. We are now working to become an even bigger family in the future.
