Property News Project Focus Interior Design / Architecture
We would like to introduce Cruise, probably the most unique, architectural structure in Kyrenia. This housing project came about through the partnership between Akacan Holding and the Netsel Group. Although the construction has been affected by the pandemic restrictions, it is still looking like it will be completed quickly. We managed to have a discussion with the project architect, Mustafa Derat, to find out about the construction and the architectural design process.
The project is located on 3,300 m2 of land in the city centre, just 100 metres from the sea and behind Oscar Resort Hotel. İt dominates the sea views and from the upper floors offers a spectacular vista. I believe we have designed the finest project possible for this special piece of land. There are only a few examples of such designs to be found worldwide, where the majority of flats have their own private swimming pool. The original building permission permitted 10 floors (34 m), however when the spacious apartment heights and pool depths were considered, we limited the design to only 8 floors to allow for more roomy apartments.
In order to facilitate the perfect sea views, the basement and ground floor areas are used for parking, and communal pools were placed on the first and second floors. 25 2+1 flats, ranging from between 65 m2 to 95 m2 have been placed on these two floors. On the higher floors the design allows for 36 3+1 and 4+1 flats, all with private pools and sea views. We can therefore say quite categorically that this project will cater for a wide choice of occupants, from single owners to some larger families.
Yes, very much so! The complicated technical plan required as much work as the overall project design did, if not more; especially the static and mechanical design work. The sheer weight of the pools, together with the working systems also impacted on the design of the balconies, making it a very difficult task. The mechanical working systems of the pool at a depth of 1.35m, placed on the balconies, were planned using the very latest technology. The wave creating, pool system generates constant movement and warms the pool water in the winter. A pool side was created on the balcony of each flat and the view of the deep blue sea of the Mediterranean can be enjoyed from both the living rooms and the pools.
The 3+1 and 4+1 flats with master bedrooms range between 145 m2 to 215 m2. The private pools are approximately 15 m2. I believe the common pool on the ground floor is the final component to the project, giving the overall feeling of a floating building.
This unique project belongs to Akacan Holding. At the beginning of 2020, the construction had been completed and minor details in the living areas were being completed. Unfortunately, with the restrictions brought about in the construction sector at the beginning of last year due to the pandemic, the delivery date of the project was postponed. The project’s technical details have now been completed by Derat Architecture, therefore we are excitedly waiting for the final completions now that the pandemic has eased and construction work is resuming.
