While the Covid-19 Pandemic creates an almost unprecedented economic crisis in the world; The saddest thing is that this is essentially a serious health crisis rather than a financial crisis.
Even though the fact that there are no Covid-19 patients in Northern Cyprus at the end of the two-month period spent isolated from our loved ones and our social life has made us smile in the fight against the pandemic; When border gates and flights are opened, we need to act calmly and consciously, without giving up precautions, so that we can get out of the second wave or the contagion process with little damage. However, unfortunately, the financial difficulties we experience both in the sector and throughout the country are increasing with panic and tension; It causes us to quickly forget the good developments in health and to despair.
In our country, although it is often ranked after tourism and education; The construction sector constitutes 44% of our state revenues and offers employment to more than 15,000 people and a serious investment opportunity for foreigners.
Although we are happy to return to our business life after the Covid-19 outbreak, unfortunately - at best - I foresee an inevitable contraction in the sector for at least a 1-year period. On the other hand, if our success in the fight against Covid-19 can be marketed correctly and we work carefully to prevent people coming to our country from being infected; There will be serious demand in both the construction and tourism sectors. Perhaps we will need to make new investments to meet this demand.
With the awareness that we are going through a process that requires patience and effort, I believe that we will get through this process in the medium term by supporting each other in difficult times, without stopping our production and contributing to the cash cycle in the domestic market, and I look positively at the hot developments.
