The Corona Virus broke out in China in 2019 and quickly spread around the world from March. Once it was seen in 114 countries the World Health Organization declared it a pandemic. In March, Europe and the USA became the centre of the pandemic. At present Turkey is seriously struggling with the virus. In order to prevent the spread of the virus, schools, workplaces, cinemas, theatres and restaurants were closed down while sports events were postponed. Air, land, sea and railway transportation was stopped and boarders were closed. With the panic caused by Covid-19, stock exchanges fell steeply, shares lost value and asset prices decreased.
Despite all of these negative outcomes, the present positive situation of our island is due to the necessary early precautions taken by the TRNC government and the regulations put forward by the Ministry of Health. As the world is suffering great difficulties in regards to health and economy during this process, the pandemic crises was managed here quite well, unlike around the world, because of public awareness and the determination of the government in the TRNC. With this positive outcome, we can now say that we have put the virus successfully behind us. North Cyprus is now considered to be the safest island in terms of health.
Although there is a common belief that the property market has been negatively affected by the spread of the virus, our sector has overcome this process in a healthy and trustworthy manner and has become one of the sectors to best adapt to the new normal lifestyle. First of all, people spent most of their time at home during the pandemic and those with a suitable home were able to take advantage of the situation. Because it is a safe island, many foreign clients have come to North Cyprus for a holiday and have wanted to buy property.
In short, we can say North Cyprus has become an opportunity for investors. People have come to realise that a more isolated lifestyle and safer home are important during difficult times such as these and that the wonderful climate and geography of our island is the perfect place to materialise these ideas.
When life turns back to normal, the TRNC property sector will be more dynamic than before. The value of the property market will increase and even if foreign investors do not seem interested at first, local investors will show a great interest in the market. After the boarders re-open and international flights start to arrive, the number of foreign investors will definitely increase in the TRNC property market.
As Quantum Realty, we have a portfolio of properties from every area in North Cyprus, suitable for every budget. We are promoting our beautiful island of North Cyprus at our Quantum Realty office in Istanbul and we can see that there is a higher demand than before. Detached and semi-detached houses, flats, studio flats, penthouses, bungalows, workplaces and land are included in our property portfolio and we have options in every city such as Famagusta, Iskele, Kyrenia and Nicosia.
