Everyone has a bathroom in their house. A place to
wash our face in the morning, take a shower, use
the toilet; the usual. What we don’t know is that a
bathroom can be turned into a piece of art.
A place we literally can not wait to get to after waking every morning. A place you gracefully slow down in order to take in every detail. A place you feel content with everything you need at arms reach. Each movement, detail designed by by a profesional. Now we are going to introduce you to this legendary bathroom and of course its artist: Miro Designroom Director, Master Architect Münevver Özgür Özersay.
I would like to start with the question “Which bathroom?” because while focusing on the design of this bathroom we tried to create an ‘endless bathroom’. We took out as many walls possible to create the contentness you mentioned. This gave us not only physical distance between the functions but also room to create beauty. In other words, we transfered the bathroom mechanically used for personal needs into a room adding a dynamic twist to the bedroom. We supported this decision with materials and created a more integrated living space. The colour of the floorboards used in the bedroom, was also used in the bathroom furniture and decorative bathroom tiles. The dark colours used in the bathroom tiles strengthened the feeling of privacy and were also reflected off the metal light fittings in the bedroom creating the sense of endlessness.
This bathroom is in Nicosia, Kermiya. Unfortunately construction of the property has not been completed therefore it is not being used and there is no feedback. But during construction the homeowner asked if we could change the position of the shower and toilet. Their request was appliable and changes to the plumbing were carried out while the framed structure concrete was poured.
We transfered the bathroom mechanically used for
personal needs into a room adding a dynamic twist
to the bedroom.
Miro Designroom brings customers and materials used in bathroom designs and other materials used in bathrooms together. These customers can be the homeowners themselves, sometimes architects or interior designers. Our floorboards, wall papers, flooring materials and outdoor tiles are our favourite products.
We live in a time of Pinterest and Instagram. Almost everyone that comes to Miro has some sort of idea of what they want. We start work by listening to them. First we listen to what they want then we compare what they want to what they really need. A third party then joins us, materials. We use the materials to determine what they need, what they want and as solutions to any problems that may occur. We do our best to find mutual ground.
