Green Roof Application
Contrary to popular belief and like in every field, some of those who are dealing with building materials can be environmentally friendly. The idea for ‘Green roof houses’ came from a material trend, which is popular from time to time. Although our country is identified more with a flat roof model, inclined roofs are now also frequently used. Maybe, we will start to see ‘Green Roof Application’ in Cyprus as well.
In these ‘green roof tiles’, using the sedum plants, the tiles made are in the same normal sizes and weight as regular tiles and they are installed in the same way. This greenery on the roof helps many pollinating enthusiasts, especially bees, keep birds happy and increases biodiversity. Roof tiles also decrease the noise coming outside by providing sound insulation. The installation on inclined roofs is easy and offers a waterproof finish just like a regular tiled roof. It can either be used in new constructions or can be used retrospectively in renovations. Due to its size and weight, it is designed to function exactly the same as a regular tiled roof. Since the tile substrate and sedum mix mat is attached to the tile, it can be applied to roof pitches of between 25o to 55o.
