Education: European University of Lefke
Located in the West of North Cyprus, with clean air and peaceful and safe environment, Lefke has been a home for many civilizations throughout history.
The town of Lefke is a member of the Cittaslow organization founded in Italy with members from Turkey and all over the world. It has grown to become a city without losing its historical and cultural values within the guidelines of the organization.
A cultural richness created by students from 80 different countries
The European University of Lefke is the most preferred state university in North Cyprus because it is an international education and research centre. There are more than 11.500 students from five continents and it is home to many scientists from around the world.
LAU has a dynamic and academic atmosphere with its qualified faculty members, innovative educational programmes, modern classrooms and laboratories. Our students complete their higher education in a green and safe campus. The campus is a meeting point for new friendships and a colourful social lifestyle. Student club activities and festivals are organized here throughout the year. All required facilities such as dormitories, sports centres, a health and care centre, cafes and restaurants are located on the university campus and provide their services to students.
The European University of Lefke was established by the Cyprus Science foundation in 1989 and became a state university in 1990. All programmes are approved by the Higher Education Council of Turkey (YÖK) and consist of 11 faculties, 4 schools, 3 vocational schools and one institute. It offers 84 post graduate and associate degree programmes, 28 master degree programmes and 15 doctorate programmes.
The European University of Lefke offers a double degree opportunity because it has signed a recognition agreement with one of England’s leading universities, the University of Bradford. Students may receive double degrees from both universities.
