As in the rest of the world, ‘Coffee Culture’ is developing rapidly around our island and Cortado Espresso Bar is one of the coffee shops that is contributing greatly to the development of this culture. Cortado, which opened its first branch on Famagusta’s busiest street, Salamis Road, now has three branches.
If you haven’t seen how Cortado Coffee is made then be sure to order one. Although, maybe not the ideal drink for a hot day, it is certainly a recipe much enjoyed in the evenings. This strong coffee, made from hot milk and a double espresso, will become your favorite.
We also wanted to try cold coffees and frappes, which are best enjoyed when the weather is hot. So we visited the three different Cortado Espresso Bars on your behalf and asked each barista to make us their most preferred cold drinks.
The Cortado located on Salamis Road, Famagusta, spreads some wonderful coffee aromas around its large indoor area and is enjoyed by both guests and passers-by; all due to the branch’s roasting point. Specially selected, imported coffee beans are sorted according to their types, roasted to Cortado’s exacting standards, and ground for any type of coffee desired.
Cortado offers not just coffee, but also healthy eating options and choices of desserts that go perfectly with the coffees on offer. Athletic menus, dietary menus, and various salads, prepared by expert dieticians, are served as well. Also available are coffee-free drinks such as lemonades, milkshakes, and sodas, all to add flavor to your day.
From Turkish coffee to a variety of filter coffees, Cortado has a flavor scale that will appeal to everyone. This branch, like the other two, has a team of coffee experts that deliver coffee beans to exact standards. It is then up to the baristas to create their wonders with these beans.
The second Cortado Espresso Bar we visited is located in Iskele Long Beach, close to the ‘Green Pedal Cycling Club’. This outlet provides service as a roadside coffee shop to cars, cyclists, and people going to the beach or walking along the shore, it is also the ideal spot for those who like to sit in its large garden with a perfect sea view.
Since there are few other coffee shops in Iskele with such a detailed coffee culture, Cortado has in a short space of time, become a regular coffee stop and it has brought the added pleasure of having coffee by the sea. Our third stop, at the Yeniboğaziçi branch, is certainly magical. Located right on the beach, it offers the chance to order the perfect coffee as you stand on the magnificent sand.
With the opening of the summer season, the Cortado logo appears like a sweet surprise adding enjoyment to a fun day at the beach. Located on Yeniboğaziçi Beach, the most beautiful beach between Famagusta and Iskele, this Cortado Espresso Bar awaits those who want to cool off in the shade of its outdoor sitting area.
