Applique vs Built-in Systems
Compiled by: Jasmine Dinand
In this article we have prepared a guideline for comparing the two different ways of installing a bathroom for anyone who is thinking of building a new bathroom or renovating their present one.
We are going to give details on Hansgrohe’s appliqué and built-in products and information on how to install them. You can make the most your shower or bathtub with more than one different bathroom product and installation system manufactured by Hansgrohe.
So, how do you choose the right one?
Let’s look at the general definitions of appliqué and built-in systems:
Applique Systems
Appliqué systems are used for easy repairs and replacements. Your bathroom can visually change quickly and practically. This is a good choice if you feel your bathroom needs to be livened up a little but you do not want to demolish walls or renovate on a large scale.
Built-In Systems
Modern built-in systems create space therefore you may prefer this system if you are building a new bathroom or renovating your present one. Hansgrohe built-in systems provide many possibilities. Concealed in-wall cisterns and minimal parts on the outside create a tidy environment. You can then enjoy having a large bathroom.
When Appliqué/Built-in should be used?
Applique Systems
This is a classic choice preferred for small changes. One of the products you will need is an appliqué bathroom faucet (thermostatic, single tap or double tap) and showerhead set. If you have a bathtub you will also need a mixer tap. Another alternative could be a shower column with a large showerhead attached at the top.
Built-In Systems
Although appliqué installations are ideal because they are easy and quick to change, they also have their disadvantages. One is that they are large in size and take up space especially in a small bathroom. This is why built-in products are preferred more for long-term changes. Hansgrohe has many products and different combination alternatives created for this type of installation.
