The pandemic has of course had an effect on the market place. Prices have changed, sales have been moving slower than usual and for us as an international estate agency, we have not been able to bring as many foreign investors to the TRNC as usual due to the travel restrictions and quarantine rules.
Even so, we have seen more creativity on the market place with both estate agencies and developers. When the pandemic hit us, no one really knew what would happen to the property sector. Would there be enough customers to continue the business or would it be hard to survive?
Some developers dropped their prices straight away, while some stood strong. Even so, most of the companies found a way to keep business going and we are happy for all the colleagues in our sector that have managed to make sales despite this unnormal situation.
When we understood that the pandemic would not go away that easily, our company lowered all expectations for this year. We started this company just before the pandemic arrived, so we took all the time during the lockdown to focus on the framework of our company and build a solid foundation. If the pandemic hadn’t happened, I think it would have been a longer instalment time for us, but instead we turned it into something of a positive.
We kept pushing throughout the year and now we can also see that the sales results have turned out to be greater than expected and we have been doing multiple sales online which was something very unique to do in the past. I see many other companies growing with their online presence and attracting customers online from all over the world to invest in the TRNC, which is fantastic for this country and our sector.
I would say that the market place has not moved that much compared to many other places in the world, especially where the pandemic hit extremely negatively. Here, we have been fighting the virus very well and it is now one of the safest places in the whole world. Therefore, people instead start to see that this is a good place to travel, or even live full or part time, and investors are certainly looking in our direction. And when you look into the numbers, you will see that it is now a great time to invest in the TRNC.
